⭐️ Purpose of the Podcast
As a Neurotypical I might not have personal lived experience with ADHD and/or Autism however as a Mum to a 15 year old AuDHD Son, I live and breathe his challenges every single day. I am exhausted from fighting the systems and society and as my Son get’s close to his GCSE’s I know I will only be able to fight for him on the sidelines.
It scares me to death him going out into the world simply because NOTHING is built for his brain. Society norms or systems.
Why? If everything was built for Neurodivergent FIRST it would be better for everyone.
Now I get it, if you don’t live through something, you don’t really know about it and harsh to say but you don’t really care about it.
There’s a huge gap in society and systems. Education and understanding.
I talk to my neurotypical friends and they reply “Oh we’ve all got a little bit of ADHD”. I talk to my Mum and tell her he can’t help it, and she replies “of course he can”.
It’s time to make a difference. To get people to really care, to understand, to fight for positive change.
So here we are, to create a Neurodivergent FIRST mindset, to create more allies in society, to get people to build for Neurodivergent FIRST.

Welcome:
Something Human/Personal
I would like to talk about how it is in Australia and find out more about your Mermaid antics! Looked amazing! (please let me know if you are not happy with this).
Questions I plan to ask:
AuDHD comes with a unique internal tug-of-war - ADHD craves novelty, while Autism craves predictability. Before your diagnosis in your mid-20s, how was that internal dynamic showing up in your life, and what was the moment you realised something deeper was going on?
When you were working in high-pressure legal environments, what were the early warning signs that traditional corporate structures were designed against your brain rather than for it?
As a neurotypical host trying to enforce positive change for Neurodivergent, I see a lot of well-meaning corporate inclusion efforts miss the mark. Where do HR departments and neurotypical managers consistently get it wrong when trying to support AuDHD staff?
If you were appointed CEO of a Fortune 500 company tomorrow with full authority to make it 'Neurodivergent FIRST™' by default, what 3 structural changes would you mandate on Day 1?
Wrap up
If you could change one fundamental thing in society tomorrow to build for neurodivergent FIRST™, what would it be—and what is one small action our listeners can do starting tomorrow to help build that world?
📒 Show Notes
Suggested Bio
Our first guest is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to advocacy for Neurodivergent, particularly for ADHD and AuDHD.
Best selling Author of not one, not two, not three but four books that educate and inspire people on ADHD and AuDHD.
Former international fashion model and public law policy advisor Leanne Maskell found herself navigating serious mental health crisis from being in the traditional systems that were engineered for neurotypical compliance. But her late diagnosis of AuDHD became the catalyst for a Neurodivergent FIRST revolution.
Rather than demanding that neurodivergent individuals adapt to broken systems, Leanne shifted the burden of proof back onto institutions.
She designed neurodiversity strategies for global giants Google, Disney, Microsoft, and the World Health Organisation, she has trained and certified over 1,000 ADHD/AuDHD Coaches worldwide from her business ADHD Works.
